This New York Farmhouse Could Be Yours -- For $212 And A 5-Paragraph Essay
Ever wanted to live in an amazing farmhouse in upstate New York? Now's your chance (and you could get some cash as well!)
Oh, just one issue -- you have to be a US citizen.
Other than that, it's pretty simple.
The stunning five-acre property in Corning, New York is up for grabs for just $150 US, and if that wasn’t enough of a selling point, there’s also a cash bonus that comes with the house. All the winner needs to do is write an essay.
Corning is an hour outside of Ithaca, New York, and about 20 minutes from Pennsylvania. The couple selling their home, Tim and Maggie Lott, have renovated the place and made it into a lovely rustic Victorian home. And as they have decided to move, they thought they'd give it to someone deserving.
They have actually tried to sell it a couple of times, but the five-bedroom, three-bathroom house, valued at $175,000 ($250,000 AU) is still theirs, and now they're giving it away, with cash raised from the competition given to the new owners towards taxes and fees.

It's a rural retreat in the heart of wine country -- and while it's not, well, glamorous, it has a lot of charm (and a lot of rooms!) as well as chooks, views and all that fresh air. Well worth the time it would take to write a few words about why you should own it.
Here are the rules:
1. Submit an essay about what owning the Victorian home on five-acres would mean to you.
2. The essay has to be 500 to 1,000 words.
3. All entries must be sent in before June 24, 2019. (Just enough time to marry a US Citizen, then.)
4. It costs $150 to enter.
Sit back and wait for the keys.
