Hailey Bieber Would Like The Comments About Her 'Scary' Fingers To Stop
The model has addressed negative comments she receives about her fingers, explaining she has a genetic condition.
Hailey Bieber has addressed the trolling she receives about her 'crooked and scary' looking fingers on her Instagram story, noting that she has a condition called ectrodactyly that she has dealt with her entire life.
"Okay let's get into the pinky conversation because I've made fun of myself about this forever and so I might as well just tell everyone else why they're so crooked and scary," the 23-year-old said.
I have this thing called Ectrodactyly and it causes my pinky fingers to look the way they do. It’s genetic, I’ve had it my whole life.
"So people can stop asking me ‘what the f**k is wrong with her pinky fingers’ here is what’s wrong!" she wrote alongside a screenshot about ectrodactyly from a Wikipedia page.
Ectrodactyly is more commonly referred to as cleft hand and is usually an anomaly present at birth. It has also been called 'split hand' or 'lobster claw'.
"There’s a clear genetic basis for typical cleft hands. Inheritance of cleft hand is autosomal dominant. This means if a parent has the condition, the child has a 50 percent chance of having it as well," Boston Children's Hospital stated.
"Cleft hand can occur in isolation or as part of a genetic syndrome, such as cleft lip and palate or ectrodactyly (split hand-split foot malformation)."
Bieber then shared a close up photo of her hand with a circle around her pinky finger and asked: “So in conclusion please stop roasting me about my pinky fingers."
The health admission comes almost a month after her husband Justin Bieber, 25, said he has been suffering from Lyme disease after fans suggested he didn't look well because he had 'been on meth'.
"While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like sh*t, on meth etc they failed to realise I've been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease," he wrote on Instagram at the time.
"Not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy and overall health."
