Kate Beckinsale Hits Back Over Nasty Comments On Her Bikini Photo

The 46-year-old actress shocked trolls when she responded to negative comments they left on her holiday photos.

Kate Beckinsale shared photos of a day at the beach while in Mexico, as she changed between a number of swimming costumes.

While the majority of the comments on her posts were positive, some followers of her page decided to comment on her age and the fact the actress was in a bikini.

"I feel like you are having a mid life crisis or something,” one of the commenters wrote.

However they were shocked when the 'Underworld' actress took the time to personally respond to their nasty comment.

“Oh! I think that’s because you’re an annoying a**hole," Beckinsale wrote back.

Not embarrassed enough by the actress' response, the troll continued, replying with: "At least I have pretty green eyes and my youth."

But on this particular day, Beckinsale was having none of it and continued the exchange with the troll.

“Yes darling at least you have those XX," Beckinsale wrote.

The commenter even noted that getting attention from Beckinsale was "legendary".

Following another negative comment, offering the opinion that Beckinsale is "too old" to wear a bikini and that she is seeking attention, the actress responded with a strongly worded reply.

“Are you aware that when you get the urge to accuse someone of something, especially someone you don’t know, or attribute an intention without ever having met the person, that the only thing really being achieved is revealing something about yourself or something you fear about yourself?,” Beckinsale questioned.

“I don’t know you and I don’t know who has made you feel that if you get older you have no value, can’t be attractive or sexy or have a relationship with your body that isn’t only self loathing, but as one female to another, don’t let any of that noise bother you."

Beckinsale added that getting older had made her feel more powerful and that she has blossomed physically, noting that with age comes the benefit of knowing who you are and what you want while being able to set healthier boundaries.

“If you’re young and fearing getting older, don’t. It’s not at all how people scare you it will be especially for a woman. You’ll come into your own power in a way that feels steady and so many more things will feel possible. The people or press that are scaring you that your value is tied up in youth, or in fact anything that is not currently within your reach, is noise I do hope you allow yourself to ignore," she continued.

"If you’re older and fearing less is available to you, it actually isn’t, don’t let that limit you in anything. I can’t imagine how unhappy you must feel to leave comments like this. People have all sorts of things going on that they put a brave face on and you’d never know.”

Beckinsale said she hopes her message is not negatively received, adding that negative comments say more about the people who left them thank what they do about her.

"I know you have more to offer than leaving mean comments that illuminate far more about you than they do about the people you choose to comment on. Sending love x," she concluded.
