Jelena Dokic Celebrates Weight Loss, Shares Diet Used To Lose 45 Kilos

The former Australian tennis champion is currently on holiday in Croatia and has credited a certain diet with helping her lose weight.

Jelena Dokic said her weight steadily rose to 120 kilograms when she began using food as an emotional crutch, causing her to gain 45 kilograms.

The 36-year-old, who retired from tennis in 2014, has since become a Jenny Craig ambassador and has almost reached her goal of losing half of her starting weight.

She credited the diet's portion sizes and large variety of meal options with helping her to lose the weight and shared a bikini photo of herself while in Croatia after celebrating her success.

"Another beautiful summer morning in Croatia and I am in full vacation mode. Morning swims are the best," the former World No. 4 captioned the photo.

Jelena, who lives in Melbourne, was congratulated and praised by her fans for her efforts.

"Looking fabulous! Hard work pays off!" said one, with another adding, "You've done so well Jelena - you're inspiring me."

In January of this year, Jelena told the Sunday Herald Sun her goal was to get back to her playing weight of 66 kilograms within six months.

"I was thrown into retirement not knowing what direction I wanted to go in," she told the newspaper publication. "I wasn't prepared - that's where my weight gain started."

When you're a professional athlete, you're in this bubble that's not reality -  everything is done for you… training, food, travel, management, so going back into real life was very different.

The Jenny Craig diet is a system of prepackaged, calorie controlled meals and further offers support from a consultant. They also provide an exercise plan that is to be followed weekly.

Once half of the desired weight is lost, members can begin cooking their own meals at home. The point is to take the guess work out of portion sizes making it an easy weight loss option.

"I didn't know what I was in for when I first tried the program but very quickly I discovered just how easy and convenient it is and just how tasty the food is," she wrote about Jenny Craig on Instagram.

In addition to Jelena's emotional eating, she further credited her weight gain with depression, a thyroid condition and glandular fever.
