Camilla Franks Shares Emotional Update On Breast Cancer Battle

"I am bald and broken but I will not be beaten."

Camilla Franks, owner and creative director of Australian fashion label CAMILLA, has shared an emotional update on her ongoing battle with breast cancer on Instagram.

Franks, who announced her diagnosis in May, posted a series of nine intimate black and white photographs that were captured at a recent photo shoot in Sydney to her account on July 27.

Famed throughout the world for her vibrant, colourful kaftans, Franks is pictured without any hair, after shaving her head at the beginning of her treatment.

CAMILLA CEO, Jane McNally, said that the decision to shave her head was Franks' "way of taking some control over this journey. While she found this confronting, she also found the move empowering."

The portraits were taken by Franks' photographer friend Georges Antoni  and "capture where she is on her personal path fighting cancer" according to McNally.

McNally added that the Australian designer is "responding well to treatment," and wanted to show her thanks for her supporters' love and kindness by sharing the highly personal photos.

The 42-year-old was dressed in a variety of incredible outfits for the shoot, and is seen in a range of powerful poses. Five of the images are themed around colors, with each different hue representing a part of her journey.

In one of the photos a clearly emotional Franks is depicted holding her beautiful five-month-old  daughter Luna Gypsy, who she shares with her musician fiancé JP Jones.

JP appears with baby Luna Gypsy and Franks in another photo which Franks captioned, "My strength behind me." JP and Luna Gypsy were said to have joined Frank in front of the lens "spontaneously."

McNally has said that Franks is not doing interviews at this time, no doubt to focus all her energy on her health. We wish Franks and her family  all the very best on her brave fight.
