$92 Strap For Apple AirPods Mercilessly Mocked Online
Would you like a cord with your wireless headphones?
Apple AirPods have become one of the most popular products since they were first released in 2016.
Starting at $249, they're not cheap, which is why many shoppers when into a frenzy when Ebay released a limited amount of them for $99 as part of their Black Friday sale, with the first drop selling out in just 36 seconds.
Yet while the main benefit of Apple AirPods are their wireless capability, a pricey accessory has gone up for sale and fans of the product have found its purpose confusing.
Prominent US retailer Nordstrom has begun selling an AirPods Carrying Strap For $60USD, roughly equivalent to $92AUD. The product pretty much turns the AirPods back into wired earphones.
“Avoid losing your wireless AirPods by attaching them to this magnetic-locking leather strap and wearing around the neck when not in use," the listing read.
The product as a result has been mercilessly mocked on Twitter, with users labelling the product as 'redundant', 'ridiculous' and 'a waste of money'.
"We've officially come full circle," one user wrote, while another added: "Materialism at its silliest."
We guess that's one gift that won't be making the Christmas wish list.
