'Killing Heidi' Star Is Barely Recognisable In Rare Appearance 19 Years On

Two members of '90s Aussie band got together for a small TV spot and you'd be forgiven for not immediately recognising who they were.

Former Killing Heidi band members Ella Hooper and her brother Jessie Hooper appeared on TODAY Extra on Tuesday morning.

Yet while it was nearly 20 years ago the siblings, along with fellow band members Warren Jenkin and Adam Pedretti rose to stardom, they said it feels like their time in the popular group was only yesterday.

"In some ways it feels like yesterday, but in some ways it feels like 25 years ago," 38-year-old Jessie said.

"I think the fun thing for us is to revisit these songs and play them better than we ever have. This music has so much connection to the audiences, and it's so much fun to play these songs."

"At certain points in the set, when you sort of lose time and you're really in the zone, it does feel like those 20 years just melts away. And other times, like today, I feel every inch the 20 years," Ella added.

Ella was only 13 years old when the band was created in 1996 and is still astounded by what they managed to achieve.

"Looking at those clips just then it's like, 'Wow! It's been a long journey,'" the now 36-year-old said.

"[It's been] a very colourful journey. It's been good -- I wouldn't swap it for anyone else's life. It's got ups, it's got downs, but I have always liked a lot of action and a lot of colour."

The band had a temporary break in 2006 before getting back together in 2016. Killing Heidi are getting ready to return when they play at the Red Hot Summer Tour in January 2020.
