Australian Cooking Icon Margaret Fulton Dies At 94

Legendary Australian cook and cookbook author Margaret Fulton has died aged 94.

A statement released by Fulton's family said she "died peacefully this morning with her family close by".

Fulton's family are "mourning the loss of their loving, inspirational and treasured mother, grandmother and great-grandmother early this morning" the statement continued.

Details for Fulton's funeral will be released "in due course".

Fulton was born in 1924 in Scotland and moved with her family to Australia when she was just three. She inspired generations of home cooks with her books including the classic 'Margaret Fulton Cookbook'.

Her granddaughter Louise Keats paid tribute to Fulton on her 94th birthday in October last year, celebrating the milestone with oysters, champagne and chocolate cake.

She won the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1983 for her services to the field of cookery.

More to come.
