Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reveal Their Newborn Son's Name
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced the name of their son -- and it's perfect.
The royal couple would like you to meet Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The name was announced on Wednesday night local time via Instagram, accompanied by a photo of the new bub meeting the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and Markle's mother Doria Ragland.
"This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle," the post reads.
"The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess' mother were also present for this special occasion."
Harry and Meghan first introduced their son to media earlier the same day in St George's Hall at Windsor Castle.
The new parents held off revealing the name until they formally introduced Archie -- who until now has gone by Baby Sussex -- to his great-grandparents, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
New mum Meghan said she was lucky to have "the two best guys in the world", adding that their new bub has "the sweetest temperament in the world".
The couple agreed that they weren't quite sure who Archie resembled most just yet, with Harry explaining that they'd been told how much newborns change over the course of two weeks.
“His looks are changing every single day,” he said.
Ahead of the birth on Monday, some royal experts had anticipated the newborn might be called Diana, in honour of Harry's late mum, with Ivy and Grace also in contention if the baby was a girl.
Boys' names including Albert, Arthur, Alexander, James and Phillip were considered likely choices by UK bookmakers. Spencer was also in the mix, with some fans guessing Harry's late mother's maiden name could make the cut.
Archie -- the 18th most popular name for boys in England and Wales during 2017 -- was not among the names being tipped by bookies.
Harry and Meghan's decision to stop at two names is also a rare choice. Archie's prince and princess cousins each have three names, while his father and uncle carry four.
Meaning "genuine", "bold" and "brave", the name Archie is of German origin, while Harrison means "son of Harry".
Archie is now seventh in line for the British throne -- following his grandfather Prince Charles, uncle Prince William, dad Prince Harry and cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Which means he's knocked royals including Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie down another notch on the line of succession.
Harry and Meghan, you did it! We hope you're having a well-deserved rest with little Archie.
