Dames Angelina Jolie And Helen Mirren Bring Hollywood Glam To Two Royal Events

Did you spy Ange's subtle nod to Meghan?

Our pals in Britain were blessed when not one but two Hollywood legends popped up at royal events over the past few days, and didn't the pair of Dames -- yep, they're both capital 'D' Dames -- look fab.

Helen Mirren was a vision in floral on day five of the Royal Ascot racing event on June 23, but it was the iconic actor's petal-pink hat -- complete with flower-shaped detail -- that really took our breath away.

We adore the pillbox shape and the netted veil -- it's oh-so-perfect for a day at the track. Dame Mirren, 72, who was awarded the honour by the Queen in 2003, even got to present a trophy to a lucky winner on the day.

Our Dame-spotting counter went up to two when Angelina Jolie graced everyone with her presence at a service at St Paul's Cathedral in London on June 28. The actor-cum-humanitarian opted for a sleek silver cowl-neck pencil dress with matching gloves, bag and of course, hat.

The 43-year-old literally shone in the dove grey look from one of Meghan Markle's own go-to designers, Ralph & Russo proving both the Dame and the Duchess both have excellent taste.

While the mum-of-six is technically an honorary Dame -- she's American not British after all -- we still think the actor looked every inch the blue-blooded aristocrat in her elegant long-sleeved dress and sculptural-yet-understated head piece.

Jolie's most glam accessory on the day had to be the hefty gold badge pinned to her left shoulder. The Girl, Interrupted star gets to sport the star-shaped pin as she's a dame of the Order of St Michael and St George.

A noticable absence at the posh 'do -- which marked the Order's 200th anniversary -- was the Queen. The 92-year-old skipped out on the event as she wasn't feeling too flash. While we missed seeing her in one of her trademark colourful outfits we wish Her Majesty a speedy recovery.
