People Are Pissed About The Jacket Melania Trump Just Wore
They really do care, but Trump really does not.
Amidst the furor surrounding her husband US President Donald Trump's immigration policy -- you know, the one that saw up to 2,000 children separated from their families and held in jail-like conditions -- First Lady Melania Trump has stepped out wearing a khaki jacket.
The hooded anorak from Zara is unremarkable. It's the message on the back that has people riled up.
"I REALLY DON'T CARE, DO U?" it says in bold white graffiti-like font.
This was the FLOTUS' choice of outerwear to board -- and disembark -- a jet bound for Texas on June 22 where she made an unscheduled damage-control visit to a detention centre for migrant children.
Melania's reps were quick to hose down the fashion choice. Her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham reportedly said in a tweet, "It's a jacket. There was no hidden message."
Trump had his own take and of course it was all #fakenews.
People weren't convinced that it was in fact "just a jacket."
Others drew parallels between the First Lady and the ill-fated Marie Antoinette. Yikes.
Others still saw the humour. If you don't laugh, you cry, right?
This is seen to be the latest fashion faux pas for the FLOTUS. Melania wore stiletto heels to inspect hurricane damage in Texas in 2017. Hmmkay ...
It's very clear that Americans -- and the world -- really DO care. They care about the message that the jacket -- and the wearer -- conveys about the President's opinion of what many are calling a serious breach of human rights.
