The Big Little Lies Cast Are True Friend Goals

Just need to work out how to join the gang!

On Saturday the women of the Big Little Lies cast all went out to see Shailene Woodley's new movie Adrift.

Yep -- the super close cast (except Nicole Kidman who couldn't make it)  headed to the cinema and posted a really cute video and pic to mark the occasion, proving yet again that they're as close off-screen as they are onset.

Zoe Kravitz, Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern all praised their friend's performance in the movie -- the real story of a couple stranded at sea after sailing into a devastating hurricane -- and all posted the same group shot in support.

Reese took the fun one step further and did an Instagram story at the same time  -- the girls giving their reviews complete with hilarious Instagram filters. "So good," Kravitz told the camera. "You gotta see it, she's amazing," Witherspoon said, pointing to Woodley.

For her part, Shailene was delighted by the show of support from her friends: "WHAT TRUE SUPPORT AND SISTERHOOD LOOKS LIKE. i feel so shown up for. #adrift @adriftmovie," she wrote on her own post of the pic.

The women have recently come back together to film season two of the runaway hit show -- with many of them posting photos on social media to mark their happiness.

These women truly are total goals when it comes to friendship -- Dern described them at last year’s Emmys as an “incredible fierce tribe of women”. When she won the Golden Globe for  Best Supporting Actress, she went on to say how grateful she was for "the brilliant Shailene, Zoë, Reese, and Nicole — my new family."

And when the show won five Emmy awards for its first season, Nicole Kidman credited it all to their amazing friendship.

This is a friendship that then created opportunities. It created opportunities out of frustration because we weren’t getting offered great roles. So now, more great roles for women, please,” said Kidman.

Stars Witherspoon and Dern even did a joint interview with the New York Times last year where they spoke about how much they loved each other, and have done for years -- to mark starring as mother and daughter in the movie Wild in 2014.

"Nobody makes me laugh harder than Laura," Witherspoon said. "She can put me on the floor with a text message."  And Dern agreed. "You know someone is your favorite person when you’ve done a day of press, listened to yourself ad nauseam, listened to them tell every story, and when it ends, it’s like, 'Are we going to eat something?'"

And it gets cuter as the interview goes on. At one point Laura says "When I met Reese, I knew she would be my family for the rest of my life. And I don’t say that lightly." To which Reese replies: "Now every time Laura’s on a movie that I’m not in, I’m jealous. I’m having FOMO [fear of missing out]. How dare she do “Star Wars” without me?"

None of them are averse to talking about how much they love each other in public. For Nicole's birthday Reese posted this super cute pic, captioned "Wishing a big happy birthday to my dear friend, the one and only, mega-talented, #NicoleKidman!!! ?I hope you have a gorgeous day filled with laughter and love. Love you, lady!! ?? ?"

Just. So. Good.

As for what is to come in season two -- not a huge amount is known yet. But good news,  Alexander Skarsgård, whose character was murdered at the end of season one is back. And there are additions to the team  -- new castmate Meryl Streep, who's joining the show to play Kidman's mother-in-law,  and a new dog, Jolly, who Reese joked, "has the best hair of all the cast!"

For now we're happy to make do with more group outings like this movie date -- season two won't be on air until 2019 and we want to see more of these great friendships in action.
