Dancing With The Stars 2020: The Celebs Let Loose On Latin Night

Our Dancing With The Stars couples have had a few weeks to warm up just in time for a sizzling Latin Week.

The category is usually split between five unique styles on the professional dance scene -- cha-cha, samba, rumba, paso doble and jive.

Each dance has its own complex history but, as a group, Latin dances have a distinctly different type of pace, footwork, and movement when compared to their ballroom counterparts.

Last week's leader board saw Chloe and Gustavo and Dami and Shae tied for the lead spot (24) followed by Claudia and Aric (23), Beau and Megan (21) and Ed and Jorja j(19).

Dancing With The Stars 2020: The Celebs Bring Their Most Memorable Moments To Life On The Dance Floor

This week on Dancing With The Stars, the celebrities were tasked with turning some of their most precious and painful memories into dance.

After a strong first couple of weeks, Claudia and Jarryd slipped to seventh place (16) followed by Travis and Violeta (15) and Angie and Julian (14) who were sadly eliminated from the competition.

Will Latin night flip the competition on its head or will the favourites Chloe and Gustavo continue their dance floor domination?

Beau Ryan and Megan Wragg

The dance: Salsa.

The lowdown: Beau's schedule this week looked a lot like The Amazing Race but he managed to fit in as much rehearsal as he could with Megan to nail their salsa routine.

Megan said the dance certainly suited Beau's personality, which was definitely on show as he entered the dance floor with no shirt but plenty of energy for their jungle-themed romp.

Sharna said it was an "amazing way to open the show on Latin Night" and that she had a lot of fun watching Beau and Megan's dance floor tricks -- even though she would have liked to have seen a little more rhythm from the former footy player.

Tristan said Beau definitely had "the icing, we just need to work on the cake" and Craig said he was distracted by Beau's chest, which looked like it had been "triple dipped in Egyptian gold, darling!"

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 6, Sharna Burgess: 7, Tristan Macmanus: 6 for a total of 19.

'It's My Pet Hate': Craig Revel Horwood Reveals The One Thing He Can't Stand on 'DWTS'

He's known as one of the toughest judges to crack on Dancing With The Stars, but Craig Revel Horwood says his scathing critiques are a necessary part of the competition.

Ed Kavalee and Jorja Freeman

The dance: The paso doble from Strictly Ballroom.

The lowdown: Ed Kavalee has become the surprise favourite in the competition, going from strength to strength and blowing the judges away with his steamy paso doble.

The biggest challenge for Ed has been keeping his comical facial expressions to a minimum, especially when he's playing the role of the very serious, yet sensual El Matador.

Tristan was blown away by the "unexpected" brilliance of the routine, Craig said it was "the best I've seen you dance" and Sharna labelled "Edward" and Jorja's dance "fire".

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 8, Sharna Burgess: 8, Tristan Macmanus: 8.

Chloe Lattanzi and Gustavo Viglio

The dance: The Argentine tango.

The lowdown: Chloe was nursing a painful rib injury and Gustavo had concerns about the strenuous dance, not wanting to strain his dance partner any further.

While Chloe missed a few steps on the night, the couple performed a steamy routine that started in the bedroom and ended with a sensual shower of water that meant that they had to don bathrobes to receive their scores.

The judges noted that Chloe's injury slowed her down but that her obvious talent and dedication still shone through.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 6, Sharna Burgess: 7, Tristan Macmanus: 7 for a total of 20.

Chloe Lattanzi hit a roadblock after sitting at the top of the leaderboard for the past three weeks -- but it's not all bad news.

Travis Cloke and Violeta Mugica

The dance: The samba.

The lowdown: Out of his comfort zone and battling a nasty flu, Travis did his best to try and master the "hardest Latin dance" of them all -- the samba.

Sharna said she knew that Trav had "had a hard week" and said she can see a lot of potential but that the samba was probably the most difficult dance for the footy player's much-needed comeback.

"For a samba, it did leave me underwhelmed and I don't want to say that to you because I know you've had a tough week!" she apologised.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 4, Sharna Burgess: 5, Tristan Macmanus: 5 for a total of 14.

Celia Pacquola and Jarryd Byrne

We didn't see an illegal lift! Image: Network 10.

The dance: The rumba.

The lowdown: Celia noted that the previous week had been rough when she blanked on part of her routine and earned her lowest score of the competition.

So to help her get her confidence back to learn the sexiest of all Latin dances, Celia got her good friend and Rosehaven co-star Luke McGregor to stop by one of her rehearsals with Jarryd.

Their stunning show night performance contained an "illegal lift" according to Craig but Celia shot back that it was "worth it" and we're inclined to agree.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 6, Sharna Burgess: 8, Tristan Macmanus: 5 for a total of 21.

It's supposed to be the night of steamy, sensual performances but Travis Cloke may be bringing a few sniffles to the dance floor.

Dami Im and Shae Mountain

Dami gave us her best samba. Image: Network 10.

The dance: The samba.

The lowdown: Dami clearly had a lot of fun with the sexy samba but Craig commented that it "looked like you got drunk at the office Christmas party".

He clarified that this was actually a good thing because at least she'd dropped all inhibition.

Sharna praised Shae for his choreography and Dami for coming out of her shell and owning the dance floor while Tristan said that there was some "refinement needed" but that Dami has always improved and always moved forward with each week.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 5, Sharna Burgess: 6, Tristan Macmanus: 6 for a total of 17.

Claudia Karvan and Aric Yegudkin

Image: Network 10.

The dance: The rumba.

The lowdown: Sharna said it was the "best rumba we've seen so far" but said she saw "two individual performances" and not enough chemistry between Claudia and Aric.

Tristan said holding back on intensity during rehearsal had a "trickle-down effect" that didn't often pay dividends during the live show. But Craig said it was "quiet, understated and classy" without a single bad comment to unleash on the pair.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 8, Sharna Burgess: 8, Tristan Macmanus: 8 for a total of 24.

It may only be week three but for one of the stars, her sights are set on the final.

Christian Wilkins And Lily Cornish

The dance: The paso doble.

The lowdown: Lily was worried that Christian needed a bit of help to harness the intensity of the paso, so she took him to smash a few plates in preparation.

The pair hit the dance floor in matching red and black lace with a dramatic silhouette of Christian holding a Spanish fan to kick off the routine.

"WTF was my first thought and then I fell in love with it," said Craig.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 7, Sharna Burgess: 7, Tristan Macmanus: 7 for a total of 21.

Team Samba: Dami, Celia, Claudia, Beau

Team samba! Image: Network 10.

The dance: The samba.

The lowdown: The first team dance of the season meant the celebs also had to learn two whole dances for Latin Week. Claudia said dancing as a group has been the most fun in the comp yet, likening it to school camp.

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 7, Sharna Burgess: 8, Tristan Macmanus: 8 for a total of 23.

Team Paso Doble: Travis, Christian, Ed, Chloe

Image: Network 10.

The dance: The paso doble.

The lowdown: Chloe played the team's powerful paso doble queen, still battling her painful rib injury and worried that she would let her team down -- but she needn't have worried, pulling off the role flawlessly.

Sharna gave the gang a "well DAMN" congratulating them on their technical prowess and powerful storytelling. Craig said the group had included everything that he loves and applauded them for being "theatrical, dramatic and fantastic".

The scores: Craig Revel Horwood: 8, Sharna Burgess: 9, Tristan Macmanus:  9 for a total of 26.

The team scores were added to the individual leaderboard placing Ed and Jorja in the top spot with 50 points and Dami and Travis in the bottom two on 40 points each.
