I Am Not Okay With This: Familiar Faces Tackle Teen Angst And Superpowers In Netflix's New Series

Stars of the recent IT films Sophia Lillis and Wyatt Oleff reunite in a new series on Netflix.

Breaking onto the scene battling Stephen King's demonic, shape-shifting clown on the big screen, the pair get to flex more of their acting chops in the supernatural dramedy.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Charles Forsman, I Am Not Okay With This tells the story of Sydney (Lillis) a young girl who is just trying to deal with the usual teen things: homework, boys, girls, the upcoming Homecoming dance and the mysterious superpowers she can't quite seem to get control of.

From the director and executive producer of The End of the F***ing World, Jonathan Entwistle, the series follows Sydney as she attempts to live life as a normal teenager in a very abnormal situation.

Trying to hide her complicated feelings for a friend, trying to be a good big sister and trying not to accidentally throw something across a room with her erratic telekinetic powers.

What The Cast Of It Chapter 2 Looks Like Compared To Chapter 1

You'll float two.

Describing the show as "X-Men meets Lady Bird meets The Breakfast Club" Entwistle crafts a John Hughes small-town setting which allows for Sydney to come to terms with the changes she's going through in life, and some other mysterious forces at play.

Coincidentally, Oleff plays a character named Stanley, which was also the name of his IT character. Shaking off the shackles of his debut role, Oleff really embraces the character, said to be inspired by Anthony Michael Hall's character from Sixteen Candles.

The Outsider: The Terrifying, Brilliant Show You're Probably Not Watching

2020 has barely begun but The Outsider is already a strong contender for one of the year's best dramas.

The series lulls along nicely and couldn't be better suited to Netflix's in-built machinery making for an easy binge-watch, but it's really Oleff who shines throughout.

Lumbering towards some kind of climax, the series has some mind-blowing (heh) turns that may seem unexpected, all the while spending too much time on laboured cliches, promising a tantalising second season if the streaming giant gives it the go-ahead.

The series is rounded out with Sofia Bryant as Dina, Kathleen Rose Perkins as Maggie, Aidan Wojtak-Hissong as Liam and Richard Ellis as Brad.

With just seven short episodes in Season 1, I Am Not Okay With This is now streaming on Netflix.
