Dancing With The Stars 2020: The Emotional Story Behind Claudia Karvan's Second Dance

Taking to the dance floor for the second time, Claudia revealed the emotional story behind her Salsa routine.

Alongside partner Aric Yegudkin, Claudia said she hoped her late friend Samantha would be with her.

Describing her like a sister, Claudia explained why dancing salsa reminds her of Samantha.

"The last time I saw her I took her to a salsa workshop," Claudia said adding she, "I just looked across at her and saw her moving her hips. She had this smile on her face and I thought she's going to be okay.

"Unfortunately," Claudia continued, "that was the last time I saw her."

With an emotional tie to the dance, Claudia said she was performing that week for Samantha, describing her as "very spontaneous and effervescent".

"There's a sort of a character about salsa that kind of reflects Samantha."

Before she went out on the dance floor Claudia revealed Samantha's son said to her, "I hope she is dancing with you, wherever she is".

Claudia's performance was a highlight of the night with the judges, with Sharna describing it as "a beautiful way to open our second show of the season".

"I am such a fan of you out on the dance floor," she added.

After her performance, an emotional Claudia said she knew Samantha's family would be watching.

After night one, Claudia was on the top of the leaderboard with a score of 21. Following her second performance, Claudia managed to hold onto that lead, again with a score of 5 from Craig, 7 from Sharna and another 7 from Tristan.
