Dancing With The Stars 2020: Gene Kelly 'Responsible' For Chloe Lattanzi

On the premiere episode of 'Dancing With The Stars,' a surprise audience member shocked Chloe Lattanzi.

Patricia Ward Kelly, third wife of legendary film star Gene Kelly, was sitting alongside Chloe's mum Olivia Newton-John.

When Amanda asked what Gene would have thought of 'DWTS', Patricia said he would have felt 'particularly responsible'.

"You may not know but Chloe is here because of Gene," Patricia continued. "He was the one who introduced her parents to each other."

The stars weren't just on the dancefloor tonight, with superstar Olivia Newton-John sitting front row to cheer on her daughter Chloe Lattanzi.

Gene and Olivia starred together in the 1980 musical fantasy rollerskate romp 'Xanadu' with Olivia starring as Kira, a muse, and Gene played a has-been musician.

During once scene where Gene's character flashes back to the days before he lost his muse, the character was played by dancer Matt Lattanzi -- Chloe's father.

"As a little special thing for Chloe tonight I went through Gene's archives and found this picture that he had kept of her," Patricia said pulling out a snapshot of an adorable bub in a pram snapped when Chloe was just 10 and a half months old.

'Xanadu' ended up being Gene Kelly's last feature film before he died in 1996.

Speaking to 'The Daily Herald' back in 2012, Olivia Newton-John reflected on the experience of making the film saying, "I still can’t believe I danced with Gene Kelly. How lucky am I that I’ve been in movies where I’ve danced with two of the greatest dancers of all time -- with Gene Kelly and John Travolta?

"I never would have thought that because I had two left feet growing up."

Dancing With The Stars airs Sundays at 7.30 on 10 and 10 Play.
