‘I Don’t Even Think He Realises How Amazing He Is’: Natasha Bongiorno Opens Up On The Real Dale Thomas
Dale Thomas has been an absolute revelation in the ‘I’m A Celebrity’ camp, revealing himself to be thoughtful and full of compassion.
While that surprised many of his campmates and fans back home, someone who knew this all along was his girlfriend -- Natasha Bongiorno.
“It was really frustrating to me because people didn’t know the real him,” Natasha told 10 daily.
“I’m so glad people get to see this side of him because it’s him, he’s not all that crap that people think footballers are. I don’t even think he realises how amazing he is,” she added.
“I don’t think he went in thinking ‘I’m going to prove who I am to the world’,” Natasha said, “but I was so glad people could see the real him because the real him is an absolute treasure and I want people to be as in love with him as I am.”
Dale has spoken up in camp on several issues, especially when it comes to sharing his experiences with anxiety and mental health.
“People perceive him to be a man’s man,” Natasha said, “Isn’t it so good seeing him voicing things to a target market who really need to hear, ‘men should be bringing men to the Brownlow’ or ‘I have anxiety and I’m not afraid to say it’. Isn’t that so healthy to hear?
‘We’ve All Been Challenged For The Better’: Rhonda Burchmore’s Daughter Is The Reason She Went Into The Jungle
The undeniable queen of the tucker trials this year, Rhonda Burchmore needed a bit of help convincing her husband it was a good idea to trade french champagne for penis coladas in the jungle.
While it’s been amazing to see Dale flourish in camp, Natasha admitted it’s been difficult to see him be so vulnerable from halfway across the world.
“I haven’t been through half as much as he went through, but I was surprised I felt an emotional toll being at home without him… Seeing your partner on screen, seeing them open up and be vulnerable and not being able to pat them on the back, you just turn off the TV and go to bed.
“It’s really hard, emotionally. Not speaking to them for a month. I missed him so much and I wanted to be there for him, and couldn’t. I can only imagine what he’s going through, but he’s so mentally tough.
“I’ve hated how much it’s made me miss him but I wouldn’t change anything, I would want him to do this a million times over because it’s been so good for him.”
