I’m A Celebrity 2020: Cosentino The Eleventh Celebrity To Leave The Jungle

The illusionist and stage magician made his grand escape from the camp.

Cosentino was the first intruder in this season of ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ but almost immediately made himself at home with the other campmates, so much so that it’s easy to forget he wasn’t there from day one.

Taking a few of the other celebs under his wing as apprentices, Cos gave magic tutorials to Dale Thomas and Miguel Maestre -- revealing a few of his tricks for them to perform in camp.

While he’s known for his huge stage illusions, Cos couldn’t escape from the tucker trials -- getting dunked in all sorts of trash alongside Tanya Hennessy in Skippy-Dipping, as well as taking on the huge challenge of almost drinking a blended rat during Spin It To Bin It with Myf Warhurst and Rhonda Burchmore.

I’m A Celebrity 2020: How Houdini Inspired Cosentino To Overcome His Learning Difficulties

Cosentino has been very open with his campmates about his learning difficulties when he was younger.

He hypnotised the country with his kind heart, and hypnotised Ryan Gallagher with his… well, his powers of hypnosis. Turning the former ‘MAFS’ star into the ‘Worlds Greatest Tap Dancer’, Cos proved powers in the dark arts.

His time in the jungle was in support of the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, a cause close to his heart. Sharing his story with the celebs, Cos spoke about not being able to read until he was 12-years-old.

Struggling with his learning difficulties, Cos says it was a book of magic and the history of magicians that helped him learn to read. Through the practical application of learning magic, Cos said he was able to apply himself.

“To learn the trick you really had to analyse each word, because it would tell you what to do: put your pinky here, put your right index finger here,” he told Rhonda in camp.

“That physical application allowed me to read. It really built my confidence,” Cos said. Not only was he building confidence and strengthening his ability to read, but he was also learning a unique skill that he was able to invest in.

Making a name for himself as one of Australia’s greatest magicians, illusionists and escape artists, Cosentino has also secured himself as a favourite in ‘I’m A Celebrity’ history.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday to Thursday at 7.30 on 10 and 10 Play.
