'Modern Family' Actor Marsha Kramer Has Died At 74

A beloved member of the 'Modern Family' cast has died at age 74.

Marsha Kramer played Jay Pritchett's (Ed O'Neill) longtime assistant Margaret and appeared in the most recent episode of the series to air in the United States.

The news was shared by 'Modern Family' casting director Jeff Greenberg, who paid tribute to Kramer on Twitter, praising her work on the series and her role as Wendy Darling in 'Peter Pan' on Broadway in 1979.

No cause of death was mentioned by Greenberg.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson --who plays Mitchell Pritchett on the sitcom -- commented underneath Greenberg's post: "Oh my goodness! No! This is such sad news!"

'Modern Family' director Jason Winer wrote that "she was so funny and vibrant in that episode we just shot with her in December!" with Greenberg replying, "it was her best one ever".

The episode entitled 'Dead on a Rival' featured a storyline where Jay brings Margaret out of retirement to work with his grandaughter Alex (Ariel Winter) and aired just days ago in the States.

Viewers have always expressed a fondness for Kramer's hilarious performances on the series, with one fan previously referring to Margaret as the show's "most relateable character".

Kramer, who was born in Chicago, appeared on a number of hit TV shows from the last five decades including 'The Cosby Show', 'Cheers', 'Frasier', and 'Malcolm in the Middle'.
