I’m A Celebrity 2020: Myf Warhurst Reveals ‘Weird’ Dates With Pearl Jam Guitarist Stone Gossard
Myf Warhurst regaled her campmates about the brief dalliance she once had with Pearl Jam’s guitarist Stone Gossard.
Calling it her “only ever celebrity date”, Myf told Tom Williams about being pursued by the musician.
Saying that she received a message on her answering machine from Gossard, Myf reached out and received an out-of-the-blue invite to dinner.
“I said, ‘Why me?’ and he goes, ‘You know, when you’re on a deserted island you know immediately who you want to be with’. That was his line and I’m like… ohhh you’re hilarious,” Myf said, “I’m coming!”
This would have likely been around the time of Pearl Jam’s first time in Australia when they did a sold-out stadium tour, hitting up the Flinders Park Tennis Centre in 1995.
“I had three nights after shows in the cars with them, people screaming, people just running at the car,” Myf said saying it was “the weirdest experience” of her life.
This isn’t the first time Myf has revealed her and Gossard’s tryst. In 2008 she spoke about how Pearl Jam first toured she was fending off the guitarist’s advances, but when he returned a few months later begging a friend for her number -- she couldn’t resist.
According to the Herald Sun, Gossard told the ABC presenter to ask for him at a Melbourne hotel under the pseudonym “Dr Hugh G-Go”.
“Two years later he came in for an interview or something… no memory at all,” Myf said, “didn’t remember who I was. I’m not surprised, but yeah.”
The kicker? Myf said she wasn’t even a fan of the band in the first place.
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday to Thursday at 7.30 on 10 and 10 Play.
