I’m A Celebrity 2020: Dilruk Jayasinha The First Celeb Out Of The Jungle

The comedian was the first to farewell the jungle.

While we wish we could keep all our celebs together as one big dysfunctional family, sadly it was time for us to farewell our first, comedian Dilruk Jayasinha.

Constantly getting involved in the sporting events in camp -- from the world finals of Stick Footy to Dale Thomas’ putting green, Dilruk also famously showed off his grace and poise when he attempted to wrestle a piece of inflatable pizza.

But Dilruk also spoke candidly with the other celebrities about some of the struggles he has faced in the past. From bullying in school to his battle with alcohol, food and learning to love himself.

Prior to heading in the jungle Dilruk told 10 daily he was “scared of everything”, but his time in the camp showed that he’s made of much tougher stuff. Quite literally almost stumbling into a snake that made its way into camp alongside Ryan Gallagher, Dil held his composure.

There was also the tucker trial he and fellow comedian Nikki Osborne faced, put in a massive tombola in a twisted game of Bingo where they were rolled around with all sorts of nasties.

While he was the first to go, Dilruk made some strong impressions on some of the other campmates, with ‘Love Island’s Erin Barnett saying, “He never puts himself first, always others. That just says amazing things about Dil.”

Dilruk’s time in the jungle was supporting Shake It Up Australia, an organisation that raises money to help promote and fund research in Parkinson’s in Australia in the hopes of stopping the disease.

“My dad was diagnosed with Parkinson’s a few years ago,” he told 10 daily before heading into the jungle. “I was excited to do something and contribute to that because it’s a pretty awful disease,” he said, adding, “It’s nice to feel like I’m doing something.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs Sunday to Thursday at 7.30 on 10 and 10 Play.
