I'm A Celebrity 2020: Myf Warhurst And Tom Williams Join The Camp
Myf and Tom join Miguel Maestro and ‘Geordie Shore’ star Charlotte Crosby in the jungle.
The next two celebs added to the roster are familiar faces for Aussies, with the pair working across TV and radio for many years.
A radio host and TV personality known for her work across Triple J and ABC TV’s ‘Spicks and Specks’, Myf admitted going into the jungle would be a surreal experience considering she’s been a fan of the show for years.
“I’m a mad reality TV fan, I always have been,” Myf told 10 daily, adding her close friend and ‘Eurovision’ co-host Joel Creasey only had good things to say about his experience.
As for why Myf finally decided to give up the comforts of life and head into the jungle she said the show had asked her several times in the past.
“I always thought I was too scared. I still think I’m too scared, but… I put it down to a mid-life crisis,” she said with a smile.
“I just figured maybe it was something I had to do. When else would I get this experience to come to Africa, be in the jungle, hang out with people I haven’t met before and just do something so completely bonkers, shake it up and maybe get rid of a few of my hang-ups.”
While she said she was anxious just hours before she had to head into the unknown, it was another deadline that was really playing on her mind -- the looming time when she’d have to hand over her phone.
“My hands will be shaking. Goodbye my friend!,” she said towards her iPhone.
“What’s happening on Twitter? Nothing! There never is.”
The reality TV fan has been carefully studying the clues for her other campmates trying to figure out who else will be joining her in the jungle, but a few have the pop culture guru stumped.
“[The] YouTube sensation, absolutely no idea. I know that’s been advertised, I have absolutely no idea and I won’t know who they are probably because I’m 46!” Myf joked.
“You’ll be able to see it on my face, I’ll be like ‘Hiiiii’ with nothing behind the eyes.”
One of the celebs Myf will be joined by will be Tom ‘the chippie’ Williams.
Tom’s career in the industry kicked into gear after he called into the Merrick & Rosso show, opening doors to his own segment and ultimately led him to presenting roles on ‘The Great Outdoors’, and later winning the 2005 season of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ on Seven.
Speaking to 10 daily before heading into the jungle Tom admitted he was “definitely up for the challenge”.
“Adventure has been a little bit lacking in my life lately,” he said referring to his jump from TV to a desk job in real estate in early 2019.
“Getting out to stretch the wings again is really good because it was such a huge part of what I have done in the past.”
While Tom is definitely keen to sink his teeth into some adventure, one thing he’s a lot less keen to do is face off with some snakes -- something all too common in the dreaded Tucker Trials the celebs will have to face in order to get meals in camp.
“We’ve just never been friends,” Tom said of his relationship with snakes.
“I can’t figure it out. Spending so much time in the water I’m fascinated by sharks. Times when sharks have come up to me, I’ve been fazed but not hysterical.
I’ll be hysterical when they throw snakes on me.
“I think if you own up to it, you just expect the worst,” Tom admitted.
“It will be horrible and I’ll probably be quite disturbed… but that’s entertaining!”
Entertaining indeed, and we can’t wait to see just what Dr Chris Brown and Lady Julia Morris have in store for our celebs.
