'I Deadset Thought I Was Going To Win': Timm Hanly's Bachelorette Heartbreak
He was the lovable surprise who won hearts and made us believe in the magic of sunflowers, but unfortunately for Timm Hanly, Angie Kent took a gamble on someone else.
After a romantic hot air balloon ride in Byron Bay, Timm was the first bachelor to approach Angie and, unfortunately, it was to hear the devastating news that her heart belonged to Carlin Sterritt.
"Since I saw you coming down the red carpet and you had all those sunflowers," Angie told Timm,"I felt a connection and you're just a surprise."
"You're the person that makes me laugh all the time and I do feel like you're my soulmate," she continued, "I feel it so much and I love so much about you. I love everything that we've had.
"A piece of me is like, I can't picture my life without you. I really can't. And you said to take a gamble and I did. And I'm so happy I did, but I think a part of me," she said before breaking down in tears.
Immediately Timm swept in to console Angie, begging her not to cry.
"This is the situation we're in and I'm so happy that I've met you," Timm told the bachelorette, "I've cherished every moment with you. I love Carlin, if I could pick anyone to treat you like you deserve to be treated, it's him. Please don't be sad."
Keeping his composure while he attempted to make Angie feel better, Timm wandered back into the wilderness to reflect on the bad news.
"That's why you have your walls up," he said to the camera. "For that exact reason. That's the reason I didn't want to go all-in. Right now, this feeling is why I didn't want to go all-in.
"I'm never talking about my feelings ever again," he said, dejected.
Speaking to 10daily after the heartbreaking result, Timm admitted he never even expected to fall for Angie as hard as he did.
"When I first went in there I went in with an open mind, I actually didn't think it would happen. Next thing I know I was swept off my feet," he said.
"It was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. It was good, it was just really hard to be so vulnerable and open," he said, adding that he loved every minute of it.
Heading to see Angie for the last time Timm said, "I deadset thought 100 per cent that I was going to win, that I was going to be ending up with her."
"I felt like she rolled the dice once, why wouldn't she do it again," he told 10daily.
"I was shocked, but then I wasn't at the same time. It was such a mixed bag of emotions," he said.
"It took me a fair while to process what actually happened and then you don't see her again. You have this whole experience together and I haven't seen her again, do you know what I mean? It's f--king heavy.
"I haven't felt like that with anyone in such a long time. We had such a good connection from the start, it was so hard to just say goodbye in the end."
Timm added that he's been pretty happy with the response to his time on the show, saying that he's only received messages of encouragement from fans of the show.
"I'm stoked with that, it hasn't made it any easier, but I'm pretty lucky," he said.
While it was devastating to see Timm reflecting on his time on the show, he also said he wasn't ruling out returning to the world of dating on reality TV.
"I'd definitely be open to doing something like ['The Bachelorette'] again," he said, "although it didn't work out the way I wanted it to, it was definitely one of the best times I've ever had in my life. A hundred per cent open to doing something like it again."
