Denise Richards To Return To 'The Bold And The Beautiful'
She's seen her fair share of drama on 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills', now Denise Richards is returning as Shauna Fulton in the always-dramatic 'The Bold and the Beautiful'.
"I think they're both kind of even, I think," Denise told 10 daily when comparing the dramatic storylines of 'RHOBH' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful'.
"There's lots of drama on both of them -- great kinds! But it's definitely different being scripted compared to unscripted. Like, we can never make an excuse and say it was part of the script on 'Housewives'!" she laughed.
First introduced to B&B viewers as the fun-loving Shauna Fulton -- Flo's mother -- in April this year, Denise said she jumped at the opportunity to join the cast after executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell offered her the role.
"I had never done a daytime soap opera before and Brad Bell approached me with the character," she explained. "I thought it could be a lot of fun and I was friends with Darin Brooks prior to that and he loves working on the show."
She continued, "I thought I would try something different and challenging. Plus, I love that the show's been on for over 32 years and seen in so many countries".
While Denise is no stranger to television roles, she admitted that the fast-paced nature of 'B&B' was initially surprising.
"It's a very fast-paced, well-oiled machine," she began.
"We shoot two episodes a day, whereas on a single-camera show it can be five to seven days of shooting just for one episode -- it's a lot of dialogue and pages in a very short amount of time, so that was definitely something that I had to get used to."
She added, "But I love the pace of it! I love the energy, I love that we all come in and do our job and have fun together, and I actually like the momentum of it and being so quick".
While Denise may be a fan of the speedy nature of shooting a soap opera, when asking advice from her 'RHOBH' co-star and 'Days of our Lives' star Lisa Rinna, she begged to differ.
"I did speak to Lisa before I went on the show -- and she said it's too much work!" she laughed.
Clearly it didn't deter Denise, who has welcomed a return to the longrunning soap with open arms.
"This character has been so much fun to play -- I love that she's a free spirit. She's from Vegas and all about that lavish lifestyle, fashion and Los Angeles," she said.
"There's a lot of different things about her that I can relate to, and then some of the things I question -- But it's definitely fun playing that!"
