'My Stomach Dropped To The Floor': Helena Reveals Why She Walked Out During Her Hometown Visit

We're nearing the end of 'The Bachelor' and tensions have reached fever pitch -- particularly during Helena's hometown visit with Matt, which saw the blonde beauty walk out.

fter cracks began to show during the pair's previous date where Matt asked Helena to help plan a 10-year timeline, the 25-year-old again began doubting her place in the competition, which very nearly saw her walk out for good.

And while the catalyst for Helena's near-departure seemed to be triggered by the fact that Matt completely forgot that she spoke French -- something she revealed during the red carpet and apparently during multiple dates -- according to the Perth local, there was much more to it than that.

"It started really well, we were having a lot of fun -- I was really excited for him to meet my family because their opinion matters to me," she explained to 10 daily.

"The French thing wasn't the be-all and end-all as to why I was so emotional," she added, "I was just picking up on little cues during our Hometown date, and to me, he just didn't seem very interested."

She continued, "It was the little things -- like, when the cameras weren't rolling, he would walk away when we could have had a chat off-camera, which would have been nice."

"It was just a bit of a shock with me," she added.

However, after he forgot that she spoke French on the red carpet -- in front of her whole family -- the red flags became all too clear to the Mauritian native.

"My stomach dropped to the floor because I was like, 'Oh my gosh, if he doesn't remember this then maybe I'm wrong about him!'"

As we've witnessed throughout the competition, Helena's main concern with Matt was getting her heart broken -- a very real prospect when you're up against several other women all competing for Bachie Matt's heart.

But rather than her fears being assuaged as the number of women in the competition dwindled, Helena explained that her concerns only became more exacerbated as they reached the hometown visits.

"I thought I'd be able to deal with it really well, but as time went on and emotions were running high, I kept thinking that maybe my feelings towards Matt weren't being reciprocated, so I think that's when I just started to panic," she said.

As to why she chose to return to Sydney for the rose ceremony, Helena said that the fact Matt urged her to come back twice had her thinking she could be overreacting.

"I was like, 'Okay, maybe I'm reading this completely wrong'. Because if he wasn't interested in me, he could have just walked away and made things easier for himself," she said.

She continued, "But he came back twice, so I thought I may as well fight these thoughts that I'm having, and just follow my heart".
