Amazon Prime Video Announce 10 Aussie Comedy Specials Including Lano & Woodley, Tom Gleeson And Anne Edmonds
This September, 10 Aussie comedians will head to the Coopers Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne to film comedy specials for Amazon's Prime Video streaming service.
Set to hit the streaming platform in 2020, the 10 comedy specials will be filmed this month, with tickets available to be in the audience via the Malthouse website.
Shows range from Gold Logie winner Tom Gleeson's 'Joy', Celia Pacquola's 'All Talk' and Tommy Little's 'Self-Diagnosed Genius'.
The line-up also includes the reunion of Lano & Woodley in their final Melbourne performance of 'Fly', their show which follows the story of the Wright Brothers. It was also the show that brought one of Australia's favourite comedy duos back together after 12 years apart.
Anne Edmonds exploded onto the scene with her alter ego Helen Bidou, who crashed 'The Katering Show' and 'The Project' in a fantasia of sunburn and beachwear that was sarong it was so right. Now, Anne is back to ask 'What's Wrong With You'.
Similarly, Zoë Coombs Marr let her alter ego 'Dave' out but, last year, returned as herself in her Helpmann nominated show 'Bossy Bottom'. She also directed Tom Walker's highly anticipated follow-up to his show 'Honk Honk Honk Honk Honk' with the much more concisely named 'Very Very'.
Rounding out the line-up are Dilruk Jayasinha's 'Live', Alice Fraser's critically-acclaimed 'Savage', and Judith Lucy's 'Judith Lucy vs Men'.
Tickets are available for each of the shows, but will no doubt be snapped up pretty quickly so get to it.
The news of the 10 comedy specials follows Amazon's recent announcement of their first Australian original series 'LOL: Last One Laughing', a reality series following 10 Aussie comedians competing in "a battle of laughs". The six-part series will be hosted and produced by Rebel Wilson.
