Why ‘BH90210’s Shannen Doherty Wants To Stop Talking About Luke Perry
Shannen Doherty didn’t plan on joining the BH90210 revival until the death of her longtime friend and co-star from the OG series, Luke Perry.
After the 'Riverdale' star passed away suddenly on March 4 from a massive stroke at the age of 52, Doherty said she felt it was important she join the reboot of the popular '90s series as "a way for me to honour a very dear friend”.
And while the reboot of 'Beverly Hills 90210' has seen the 48-year-old talk extensively on her close friend's death, she explained that she no longer wishes to keep talking about it publicly.
“I feel like the more I talk about it, the less of its value it has and I love that person and I just – I think I need to stop and just hold something for myself,” she told HollywoodLife.
Doherty also revealed that if it weren't for Perry's shock death, she would never have joined the reboot in the first place -- though she admitted she's glad she chose to join the series.
“No, I don’t because I had already said no," she told the publication when asked if she would have joined the cast despite Perry's death.

"I think – I’m very grateful that I did it and I’m really grateful that these guys kept coming back and asking me and I’m very glad. I think the show works because it’s almost all of us and its that chemistry between each and every one of us that makes the show what it really is.”
'BH90210' will also star Jason Priestly, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, Gabrielle Carteris, Jennie Garth, and Tori Spelling.
While the series kicked off on August 7 in the US, you'll be able to catch 'BH90210' when it airs on Channel 10 in late August/ early September.
10's Head of Programming Daniel Monaghan told TV Blackbox:
“Beverly Hills 90210 was a cultural phenomenon on 10 when it aired in the 90’s and ever since, fans have pleaded to have the original cast members to return to the world’s most famous postcode. We are thrilled to have it back and it will air on 10 later this year.”
