'My Life Is Murder': Cast Reveal What It's Like Working With Lucy Lawless
Some may think it would be intimidating working with the woman who was once 'Xena: Warrior Princess', but according to 'My Life Is Murder' stars Bernard Curry and Ebony Vagulans, that's far from the truth.
Speaking about the moment Lawless called her to offer her the role of sassy data analyst Madison, Vagulans told 10 daily that working with both Lawless -- who plays the main character Alexa Crowe -- and Leah Purcell, who directed the first two episodes, was a "dream come true".
"I've looked up to Lucy and Leah for so long, and knowing that I was going to be able to collaborate with them just blew my mind," she said.
"I also grew up watching 'Xena' as well so I was a little bit kind of like, 'Wow, I'm working with Xena!'" said Curry, who plays homicide detective Keiran Knight.
"It was still for me a dream come true as well because I had worked with Leah Purcell on 'Wentworth', but to work with her as a director in a different capacity was great," he said.
The praise for Lawless' work ethic and warm personality don't end there, with Vagulans adding, "She's such a fabulous woman. She's really, really funny -- Like, she's an absolute scream off set".
"She's constantly making weird noises, cracking jokes, and has so much joy about her. But when it comes to on set, she knows what she's doing down to the tee. She's such an expert, I just relished working with her".
Lawless' influence isn't just limited to her fellow actors on the show, with Vagulans and Curry revealing a sweet anecdote about the actress' relationship with the crew members who worked on 'My Life Is Murder'.
"I heard from the crew members that she started a beautiful tradition that they'd never seen before," Vagulans said.
"For each episode at the end of each block, she would give a 'best and fairest' type award to a crew member that didn't necessarily have the flashiest job".
"She always goes above and beyond," Curry said.
