'Australian Survivor': Contenders Rally Around Sarah As She Faces Her Fears
Tonight's reward of hot chocolate and marshmallows came with a high price.
The Champions and Contenders were faced with the same ocean obstacle course that, last year saw poor Monika land belly flop after belly flop as she repeatedly tried to grab a flag that was just out of reach.
But for Sarah, who survived the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami in Sri Lanka, the challenge wasn't about physical strength or a fear of heights. The situation triggered some powerful memories about the day she lost her friend, and rendered her legs frozen, unable to make the leap.
Despite words of encouragement from the Contenders, and a pep talk from Matty and John -- who swam back to comfort her -- Sarah understood her limits and stayed put on the towering wooden structure.
Contender Matty wrote on Twitter that the scene was "hard to watch again".
After arriving back at camp, Sarah said she wanted to take ownership of what had happened, apologising for costing her team the reward.
"First of all, I'm really, really sorry. Secondly, apparently, seven-metre walls over water aren't my thing," she explained.
"All I can describe is that in my mind at the time, it was like a computer glitching, it just kind of stopped, which isn't good enough at all," Sarah continued.
It was a moment that showed both the strength of the Contenders team, how much respect they have for Sarah -- and how the whole country wants to marry Mullet Man John.
Not only did he rush to Sarah's side when she was first panicking, but he also brought her back a giant marshmallow from his afternoon tea at Chez Champions.
Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders' airs Sunday - Tuesday at 7.30pm, only on 10, 10 Play and WIN Network.
