'It's Not Always About Brawn': Baden Gets His First Big Win On 'Australian Survivor'

He might have been on the chopping block at tribal council last week, but PhD student Baden has proven that he's a real Contender.

Baden was quickly sized up as one of the tribe's weaker members, not matching up to the physical strength of some of his teammates, like AFL player Shaun or the mullet-sporting dynamo John.

And when he was pitted against big wave surfer Ross in a reward challenge that involved running through the ocean like a battering ram, pretty much everyone assumed he was about to get flattened.

"Don't be spooked!" his teammates called out as he approached the ocean playing field.

But instead of being completely pummelled by Ross -- who promised he was "going straight for him" -- Baden shot right past him, avoided a tackle and dove straight for the victory bell.

The win put the Contenders in the lead and Baden was welcomed back by his tribe with cheers and a newfound appreciation for his hidden talent.

While Ross nursed his ego over the incident, the Contenders had already chalked up another win, securing their very exciting reward box of assorted treats -- including a delicious chocolate croissant reserved for Baden.

And as JPL knows all too well, this game isn't always about brawn.

Australian Survivor: Champions V Contenders' airs Sunday - Tuesday at 7.30pm, only on 10, 10 Play and WIN Network.
