‘Riverdale’ Costars Cole Sprouse And Lili Reinhart Have Reportedly Split

RIP Bughead.

Fans of Riverdale's fave couple Bughead might wanna take a seat for this, because according to whispers, everyone's fave 'Riverdale' couple -- Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse -- have officially called time on their two-year relationship.

According to US Weekly, the pair, who play Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper in the popular series, were seen keeping their distance from one another as they mingled with co-stars at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party in San Diego on Saturday, July 21, while Sprouse was overheard telling a friend that the pair had broken up.

On Sunday, the duo were seated next to one another during 'Riverdale's panel, which led to Reinhart joking via Instagram, “Please don’t put me between these two ever again,” she captioned a photo of her, Sprouse and castmate KJ Apa on Instagram.

News of the split has devastated fans, who have taken to social media to express their distress over the sad news.

"I'm I’m not ok with Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse splitting up," one fan wrote, while another added, "Did Lili and cole really break up what am I supposed to do now when I see those Bughead edits flooding my insta?"

Reinhart and Sprouse first met on the set of the television series and were first linked in July 2017 when they were spotted making out at Comic-Con.

After seemingly debuting their romance in May 2018 at the Met Gala, the pair continued to remain tight-lipped about their romance throughout their two years together, save for Cole posting snaps of Lili on his Instagram.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in July last year, Reinhart confirmed that she had no interest in discussing her relationship in the public eye.

“I don’t act to be famous. I just am a performer,” she said.

“I’m not okay talking about my relationship,” she continued. “I’m not going to tell you my love story. That’s just not appropriate right now.”

Sprouse echoed the same sentiment in an interview with GQ in February, saying, “It’s not something that we hide, or it’s not something that we show off,” he said. “It’s just something that exists.”
