Oscar Winner Joining Netflix Series 'Glow' For Third Season
Geena Davis is the newest Gorgeous Lady of Wrestling.
Netflix announced this week that its wrestling dramedy series 'GLOW' has a new addition to the team.
Academy Award-winner Geena Davis has been cast to play a showgirl-cum-director at the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino named Sandy Devereaux St Clair.
According to 'The Hollywood Reporter', Davis will be joining the gang in five of the upcoming 10 episodes of the third season which will hit Netflix on August 9.
The series -- based on the actual Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling series from the 1980s -- stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Marc Maron, Kate Nash and Sydelle Noel as aspiring actresses who turn their sights to amateur wrestling.
The first two seasons saw the ensemble cast each grappling with hurdles in their personal lives, as well as the physical demands of their new careers and the impact their alter egos have on their actual lives.
Season three sees the gang head to Las Vegas, as the new headline act of the Fan-Tan Hotel and Casino, shifting GLOW from a television series into a live variety show.
Netflix's official season description reveals, "the women quickly realise Sin City is much more grind than glitter".
Even Brie's character Ruth's eternal optimism is put to the test as her increasingly complicated life outside the ring starts to distract her from her passion for GLOW.
"As their residency wears on, the lines blur between performance and reality, and the cast find themselves struggling with their own identities both in and outside of the ring."
The season has been a hit with critics and audiences, earning 10 Primetime Emmy Award nominations in 2018, winning two.
Season three of 'GLOW' will hit Netflix on August 9.
