The Blakeney Twins Are Heading Back To Ramsay Street

Christina and Caroline are coming back after almost three decades.

Yep, after 27 years, twins Gayle and Gillian Blakeney are returning to Ramsay Street and reprising their iconic roles of Christina and Caroline Alessi.

Okay so, because it has been a minute since the Alessi twins were on 'Neighbours', we'll forgive you if you don't remember what the infamous pair got up to.

To catch you up, Gayle Blakeney played Christina Alessi -- one of Paul Robinson's (many) ex-wives -- while her real-life sister Gillian played her TV sister Caroline Alessi.

When the Alessi twins arrived on Ramsay Street back in 1990, they used the fake name -- Linda Giles. The pair pretended to be one person as part of a witness protection program after being witnesses to a murder.

Once the murderer was caught, they were able to go back to living separate lives.

The pair struggled with a joint attraction to Paul but decided it was in their best interest not to pursue anything.

Eventually, Christina and Paul got together, married and had a son -- Andrew. Meanwhile, Caroline dated around Ramsay Street (including a brief few dates with Paul's dad Jim).

But this is 'Neighbours' and nothing with Paul is ever easy, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that while Paul and his sister-in-law Caroline were stranded in the bush they formed a close bond which eventually led to a kiss.

The moment was enough for Caroline -- raked with guilt -- to flee to Italy. Meanwhile, Christina found out about the affair and she and Paul divorced.

Gayle Blakeney said she and her sister were "tickled pink" to be returning to their roles.

"We knew if they wanted to reprise the characters after nearly 30 years, it had to be for a great story line -- which it is," she said.

"We’re really looking forward to filming it."

"Strangely enough, it feels just so comfortable and familiar despite the obvious changes ... the cast and crew have been so welcoming," Gillian added.

We can't wait to see how this all turns out.
