Justice For Toadie! Neighbours' Ryan Moloney Scores First Ever Logie Nomination
The actor behind one of Ramsay Street's most beloved characters -- Jarrod "Toadfish" Rebecchi -- has been nominated for Most Popular Actor.
It's hard to believe that it's the first time Moloney will be up for a Logie, more than two decades after he first hit Erinsborough as the Hawaiian shirt-loving, diamond in the rough teenager, Toadie.
Moloney spoke to 10 daily minutes after hearing the good news and said he was completely caught by surprise by the nod.
"It was quite a shock actually, after 25 years I'd come to expect that I wouldn't get one," he laughed.

'Neighbours' has swept the Logie Award nominations this year and is up for Most Popular Drama Program and Most Outstanding Drama Program. Eve Morey is also up for the prestigious Gold Logie for her emotional portrayal of Toadie's wife Sonya Rebecchi and rising star Bonnie Anderson (Bea Nilsson) is in the mix for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent.
"It's quite nice and humbling that people think the work we've been doing is worthy of all of these nominations," Moloney told 10 daily.
The actor said it's been "an absolutely massive year" on the set of 'Neighbours' with his on-screen wife Sonya (played by Eve Morey) fighting, and eventually losing, her battle with ovarian cancer.
"It's been very, very intense in terms of storylines and the characters have gone through absolute hell and back and, as such, so have we," Moloney explained.

"But I'm just super proud of how much effort and the work ethic with the people at work have actually brought to these storylines," he said.
And it's paid off, I'm so happy that 'Neighbours' has been nominated for Most Outstanding because, as a group, the crew just work so incredibly hard and it's just lovely for them to get the acknowledgement, too.
Moloney has had the rare opportunity of playing a single character for over two decades, building up the character of Toadie from the wayward teen who found guidance with Karl and Susan Kennedy to the lawyer who has become a mentor himself in the Erinsborough community.
"I've been more on TV than I have off TV, so he's more than half of my life," Moloney said.
Voting for the 61st TV WEEK Logie Awards opens Monday, June 24, 2019 at 12:01am AEST) and closes at the end of the red carpet telecast on Sunday, June 30, 2019, at 7:30pm AEST.
