Doris Younane's Unconventional 'Five Bedrooms' Audition Technique

There isn't much separating Doris Younane from her 'Five Bedrooms' character Heather.

"I'm tired now," she told 10 daily when asked how she was feeling ahead of 'Five Bedrooms' debut.

"The whole energy around the show, from the start, has been so exciting," Doris said. "Everybody was going, 'Oh my god, the scripts! Oh my god, the cast! Oh my god, the great production!'

"I've been in this excited state for months! I'm tired now, put the damn show on," she said laughing.

Doris is hysterical and has absolutely no issue telling you exactly what she thinks -- which made her the perfect casting for the equally hilarious and quick-witted Heather.

"I remember reading [the script] and just thought I have got to do this," she said. And her audition technique was... a little different to say the least.

"The final audition was a callback with Stephen Peacocke and I was still drunk from a wrap party. I remember being on the bathroom floor at 3 am in the morning with my husband saying, 'You should get to bed because you've got that callback'."

"I swear to god, I did one of the best auditions of my life. I don't know why. I'm going to try it again."

As funny as she is, Doris is also incredibly passionate about 'Five Bedrooms' and its cast and crew. So much so she throws her hands up while adamantly assuring us the show will get a second run. "If it doesn't then I really don't give a f**k about working again because this is a show that should go again," she said, "there's so much heart in it and if it doesn't... I'll really be questioning what I'm doing in this industry."

It's true, the show has so much heart and -- even in the first episode -- characters show the cracks in their facade, even Heather's initial rough exterior hides a massive heart.

"I've been busting for this to happen," Doris said about playing a character like Heather and heaped praise on the show's creators, Christine Bartlett and Michael Lucas.

"There's a lot of Christine in Heather, you can almost say this is coming from the woman. When Christine and I met, she looks completely different to me but there was such an energy between us," Doris said.

"She knew I was the right person for it."

Bartlett even told IF Magazine"Michael gave me permission to be totally unfiltered, so I went balls-out like never before. I was blown away watching what Doris did to bring the character to life."

There was also an unexpected closeness between the cast that almost mirrored their on-screen personas Doris had never experienced before. "I've been doing this for 35 years," she said, "I've never had that before."

"I love them," she said of her castmates, "I could live with these people!"

"We didn't know each other, seriously had never looked at each other before. You come in as five actors and think, 'Holy f**k. We're the leads of this show, what if it doesn't work? What if the chemistry is wrong?'" she said. "Within minutes we just knew."

"It was like love at first sight... I'm going to cry!"
