Huge Backlash Over Latest 'Game Of Thrones' Episode

The penultimate episode of 'Game of Thrones' had fans ready to riot.

Since season eight took over the source material of George R. R. Martin's novels, it was up to showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss to round out the end of HBO's massive series.

Unfortunately, some fans of the show have felt Benioff and Weiss have made a few, shall we say... unpopular decisions lately. If accidentally leaving a coffee cup in a scene wasn't bad enough, many fans have felt like the show betrayed its own characters, especially Daenerys.

Last week's episode was one of the lowest-rated ever of the series, but fans were hopeful with Monday's long-awaited clash of Daenerys and Cersei's armies and... things did not go exactly as expected.

It became clearer and clearer in this episode that Benioff and Weiss had decided to turn Dany into the Mad Queen -- which most suspected Cersei to be -- but many felt like this was completely at odds with everything the show had previously set up.

During the battle, Daenerys also launched a full dragon-fuelled attack on the folks of King's Landing, despite them clearly surrendering. Last time we checked, Dany's whole deal was, you know, NOT brutally murdering innocent folks for the sake of it.

Though it should be noted not EVERYONE was pressed about the intense choices Dany made in this ep.

The series finale of 'Game of Thrones' airs next week, and we're expecting some big, big things.
