Ricky Gervais Finishes First Draft Of 'After Life' Season 2

"Drinking wine when you've just finished a first draft is f**king great."

Ricky Gervais has revealed the work on 'After Life' season two is already in full swing.

On his social media, the comedian and writer posted a photo of the draft of the first episode of the second season of his Netflix series, which launched on Netflix in early April.

The series stars Gervais as Tony, a man who is trying to piece his life back together after his wife dies from breast cancer. Tony, depressed and contemplating ending his life, decides the only way forward is to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he wants, despite having those around him attempt to save the "nice guy" they used to be friends with.

The series also stars Kerry Godliman, Tom Basden, Tony way, David Bradley and Ashley Jensen.

While Netflix has yet to reveal viewer numbers for the six-episode first season, they were very quick to announce the show would return for another six episodes in 2020.

"I have never had a reaction like this before," Gervais said following the announcement, "It's been insane. And heartwarming. But now I have to make sure the second season is even better so I'll probably have to work much harder than usual. Annoying really."

For fans of the first season, if you're wondering where 'After Life' could go next, Gervais also said he snuck a "little clue" at the end of the first season during one of the final scenes.
