Bachelor In Paradise 2019: Paddy Speaks: "I Shot Myself In The Foot"
"If I ever do something like this again, I’m just going to look after myself, focus on myself, not try to be that loyal guy to mates, you’ve gotta look after yourself."
Paddy left Fiji along with Davey -- and Jimmy -- after his last-minute campaign to score a rose with Cass, Alex Nation, and Shannon was unsuccessful.
Speaking to 10 Daily over the phone, Paddy sounded disappointed with his brief stint in Paradise, telling us that he'd probably do things differently next time around.
"It’s taught me a lot, to be honest," he said.
"But it is what it is," he sighed. "I don’t even know what to say ... it’s pissed me off, but yeah, I just know now that I’ve gotta put myself before other people from now on," he added.
Although Paddy was sent home pretty early in the game, his time in Paradise was definitely eventful. We saw him go on a date with Shannon, straddle Alisha during a hectic 24 hours that ended in tears, and blow up at Brooke over a relationship that didn't take flight.
The 25-year-old claimed that he really did have "some good chats" with Brooke that didn't get caught on camera but was still left feeling confused as to why she ultimately didn't reciprocate his feelings.
"I really don’t know, I’m left wondering as well," he told 10 daily. "I don’t really know what to say," he added.
"Obviously her emotions were high and she had four people she was exploring connections with and I just felt that she needed to stop playing with people’s emotions," he said of Brooke, who ended up giving her rose to American Alex.
Paddy said that it was "not a good feeling, to be honest", adding that he wasn't over the moon that his pal Nathan was also pursuing the most popular girl in Paradise.
"I had a thing going with Alisha, I’ve got Brooke in the back of my mind and then Nathan’s on a date with Brooke and Nathan’s my housemate,' he said, adding that it was "a lot of stuff to get your head around".
Paddy explained that his time on The Bachelorette taught him to be himself and not to "be someone fake" but taking that approach wasn't necessarily successful in Paradise.
"And yeah, unfortunately, a few things didn’t get shown, and I kind of shot myself in the foot having Nathan’s back," he told us.
We asked Paddy if he'd do it all again and potentially come back for another heartbreaking round of Bacherlor in Paradise?
"I reckon I need a holiday!" he laughed.
