Bachelor In Paradise 2019: Vanessa Sunshine Wants Her Own Show, Already

Chatting to Vanessa Sunshine after her whirlwind Paradise journey came to an end last night, we asked if she saw that she'd trended #1 in Australia on Twitter last night, eclipsing Alex and Richie's emotional reunion.

"I saw that!" she exclaimed, before adding slyly, "Someone give me my own show, already! I’m literally never there on Bachelor and never there on Paradise but look what I can do!"

Talking to 10 Daily over the phone from her Melbourne home, Vanessa went on to say that she was "so grateful for the public’s reaction and support".

'I’m getting better with the social media thing," she shared, noting that she'd only posted about 50 photos since 2016.

"It’s not really my thing, but I think it’s a really great platform to connect with people and I think that’s something I really wanna put a bit more effort into and focus on," she mused, adding that she feels "really lucky that people kind of accept [her] just the way [she is]".

After spending a total of "48 hours, if that" in Paradise, Vanessa described her experience as "okay" albeit a little "frustrating".

"They even showed it, I get in there really late in Paradise, it was like 11:30pm, so there really wasn’t a lot of time," she said.

With the rose ceremony the next day and none of the men appealing to her, though, Vanessa was ready to leave.

"Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the guys, it’s not like they’re bad guys or anything like that, but they’re just not for me," she said, adding that she wasn't going to ask someone for a rose if she didn't feel a connection with them.

"That’s just not my style, I wouldn’t do that. So, yeah, it is what it is!" she said.

After suspecting that she'd been "chosen and cast on The Bachelor" to fulfil a certain role, rather than to be the one standing at the end with Nick, Vanessa said she'd been "maybe a bit more hopeful" about her chance of finding love in Paradise.

"I’d made it pretty clear what I was looking for and when they wanted examples of who, I pretty much gave them one name, so I was pretty disappointed when I got there," she said, adding: "I didn’t even really get to pick my own date properly."

After her date with Nathan, Vanessa said that arriving in Paradise was a bit of a letdown.

"I was like ‘oh, boring, who are these men, why would you even put me here with them?’" she recalled, adding: "Unfortunately there’s not quite a lot of variety when it comes to ethnicities and nationalities so it was just a bit disappointing from my end, to be honest."

Although Vanessa may not have formed any love connections during her brief stint in Paradise, the audience did get to see her share some laughs on her date with Nathan.

"We both just immediately knew we weren’t interested in each other, we just had to kind of roll with it, and I’m really grateful that he just made it fun, it was a funny day," she laughed. "But romantically, there was no interest at all on either end. It wasn’t what I thought it was gonna be, but it was just fun!"

After all this, the main question was: Would Vanessa give it another shot?

She paused.

"Ohhhh, ummmmm, I don’t know!" she mused, before revealing: "I asked for Bachelorette, but I apparently asked too late --  they’d already shortlisted the women."

"I don’t know, to be honest. I would really have to think about it," she said. "Based on my Paradise experience I don’t know if it’s what I’d wanna do again -- like, the public’s probably gonna think I can’t f**ken date people! Like I don’t know how to go on a date and that’s not true at all!" she laughed.

She paused again.

"I suppose I’d have to see who the rejects are from the new Bachelorette," she finished.
