Viewers Left Mortified As Seagull Steals Baby Turtle Live On Air
Proving that they won't just steal your chips, a seagull has stolen a baby turtle live on television.
During the final episode of Blue Planet Live, presenter and zoologist Liz Bonnin was on Heron Island, on the Great Barrier Reef, tracking the progress of turtle hatchlings who were stuck in their nest.
Bonnin was reporting from the shoreline where eight baby turtles had just been released on their journey into the ocean when viewers spotted a seagull swooping down and then running off with one of the babies in its beak.
Viewers were very quick to point out what we all knew already: seagulls are a**holes and always will be.
Others were quick to point out the irony of the entire situation...
Bonnin, however, pointed out that the incident was just a demonstration of the natural order of things in the wild, saying: "Indeed..These hatchlings are part of the food web here and the silver gulls need to feed their newborn chicks too. Hard to watch but we can’t do anything about it."
