DWTS 2019: 'Brutal' Judge Craig Revel Horwood Doesn't Sugar Coat His Thoughts!
While many were loving this year's 'Dancing With The Stars' cast, the same couldn't be said for 'villainous' judge Craig Revel Horwood.
Much like Simon Cowell on The X Factor and Ian 'Dicko' Dickson on Australian Idol, dancer and choreographer Craig Revel Horwood has wholeheartedly embraced the role of the 'mean' judge on this year's panel for Dancing With The Stars -- and fans have a lot of thoughts about it.
Joined by fellow judges Sharna Burgess and Tristan MacManus, Horwood made no attempt to hold back his brutal feedback as each celeb kicked off their premiere performance, and at one point, the 54-year-old was even booed by the studio audience.
After he told Sir Curtly Ambrose that his dance routine was a "dance disaster," the audience had clearly had enough of Craig's critiques and began loudly booing the judge, prompting him to jokingly ask for someone to remove the audience member behind him.
He did, however, include a small positive note for Ambrose, adding that while the towering cricketer's performance needed work, he "couldn't resist his charm and warmth" and insisted he "keep it up".
Viewers were quick to hit up Twitter with their thoughts on the judge, branding his comments as "discouraging" and "nasty" as well as labelling his 'bad cop' schtick as a tired trope.
Meanwhile, others praised the inclusion of the divisive judge, loving his sassy comments and insisting that every panel needs a bad guy.
Craig seemed to be unimpressed with the majority of the performances. Even fellow judge Sharna Burgess looked shocked after he savaged Cassandra Thorburn's routine and awarded her a paltry 1 out of 10 -- the lowest score of the evening.
"It was all going well until the skirt came off and you started to dance and there, quite frankly, was the failure," he told the author and former journo.
And while the majority of the stars took Horwood's negative feedback in silence, sassy Denise Scott couldn't help but clap back to the judge after he called her 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame'.
"You try having these size breasts and getting your leg up," the actress hit back, much to the delight of those watching at home.
His other feedback included telling fitness icon Michelle Bridges that she danced like she had “two wooden legs,” labelling lifeguard and model Jett Kenny's performance as “stiff, stiff, stiff, and not in a good way,” as well as telling chef Miguel Maestre that he “looked as though [he'd] just come out of a double hip replacement”.
It wasn't all negative, however, with Horwood -- who is also a judge on UK's Strictly Come Dancing -- dubbing Courtney Act's fiery performance as "the best of the night" and awarding her a massive 8 points out of 10, bringing her total tally to 23 out of 30 points and shooting her to the top of the scoreboard.
Dancing With The Stars airs Mondays at 7:30, only on 10 and WIN Network.
