I’m A Celebrity 2019: Angie Kent Tells The Devastating Story Of Losing Her Grandmother
On Thursday, Angie opened up to Richard Reid about the loss of her grandmother, and being one of the first ones to discover her after she died.
Last year, after losing her grandfather, Angie’s family suffered another devastating loss when her grandma, who she calls Nanny, died suddenly.
“My nanny was our everything,” Angie told Richard, “losing her has been the most awful thing that ever happened to my entire… family.”
Angie revealed that she turned up to visit her grandmother and take her out for breakfast one morning, but arrived to find that she had already died.
“There was a nurse there in the morning getting her up, because of her hip,” Angie said, “and she tried to revive her. I just screamed. I fell to the floor, it was awful.”
"She was the most beautiful woman in the world.”
Describing her grandmother as her angel, Angie also revealed that her own mum was so struck by the loss that Angie made the decision to move back home to be with her mum.
“My mum hasn’t been well with it all so I moved back to help her,” she said, also revealing that after her grandmother’s death her mum became “very fragile” so she made the jump from NSW back to the Sunshine Coast.
During an Instagram Live last year, Angie and her former Gogglebox co-star and current jungle campmate Yvie Jones revealed the move was part of the reason they decided to step away from the couch commentary show.
“It just became really, really hard to do the logistics of being there. Last season she was coming and going and it was just way too difficult,” Yvie said with Angie adding, “We wanted to spread our wings but that doesn’t mean we don’t love Gogglebox, because we do.”
Despite moving home to help her mum, Angie told Richard she wasn’t going to get stuck living at home. “I’m not a stuck person,” she reassured him.
