I'm A Celebrity 2019: The Breakout Star Of Camp No One Expected
As our campers inch closer to their one-week milestone in the jungle, a new star of the season that no one expected has emerged.
It’s a bird.
Yep, perched casually above the camp is an African Paradise Flycatcher’s nest, complete with a little bird the internet has affectionately nicknamed “Kale”.
Named after the punishment the caretakers faced for stealing the leafy green from their campmates -- kale for breakfast, lunch and dinner -- the gorgeous bird has been keeping its nest safe, and us strangely entertained.
With its orange back and wings, grey head and bright blue eyes and beak, the African Paradise Flycatcher nest became a viral hit when the team at I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! decided to stream the nest for some jungle slow TV.
Also, here are some other facts we learned from Google. While we initially assumed the bird keeping the nest safe was the female, apparently the African Paradise Flycatcher is a monogamous bird who pairs for life -- sharing the job of building the nest and incubating their eggs.
Move over Justin and Angie, there’s a new camp couple taking the spotlight!
Seriously, the flying family found themselves a whole flock of fans, with the live stream clocking in at just under two hours, Nest Watch (or “Nestflix” as one savvy commenter called it) reached over 70,000 people with more than 40,000 views.
You can watch the whole stream here, and make sure to tune into I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! for more updates on our new faves.
