Actress Penny Cook Has Died Age 61
The beloved Australian actor best known for her role on 'A Country Practice' has passed away.
Cook reportedly died of cancer last night, her management company said in a statement obtained by the ABC.
The actor starred as vet Vicky Bowen in A Country Practice from 1981 to 1985 and is also known for her work on Neighbours, The Great Outdoors and The Flying Doctors.
The talented director and actor helped form Sydney's Griffin Theatre in 1979 and went on to win two Logie awards for her performances on A Country Practice.
"It is with great sorrow that her family wish to advise that the much loved Penny Cook, beloved partner, mother, daughter, sister, and dear friend, died peacefully last night, of cancer, surrounded by family," the statement from Cook's management read.
Cook's family has asked that -- instead of flowers -- supporters of the performer make a donation to the Monkey Baa Theatre for Young People or Chris O'Brien Lifehouse.
Fans and colleagues of Cook's have paid tribute to her on social media.
