The Bachelorette 2018: Basically Everyone Wants To Marry Hot Todd
SPOILERS AHEAD YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Can you hear that noise? That's the sound of a million hearts breaking for Todd, who lost out on winning Ali's heart on The Bachelorette tonight.
As it came down to the final two, Ali seemed torn between Todd, her knight in shining armour who was perfect on paper -- aside from their mismatched timelines -- and Taite, who revealed during their final date that he was also unable to commit to Ali's timeline for marriage and children.
Still, in the end, Ali chose to risk it all for love -- and undeniable chemistry -- and chose Taite for her happy ending, shattering Todd's heart in the process.
Speaking to Osher, Todd said that he was "nervous" and "in the mind-frame of looking forward to starting the next chapter of [his] life".
"I've learnt what I want in a partner, and that's Ali. I've never come across anybody so pure and so giving and so caring. You know, I can see her as my life partner and the mother of my children, so the man that stands before you now is head over heels in love. It all just fits, Osh, and I love the girl so much. I've never been so certain."
Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be, as Ali said:
"You have been my knight in shining armour. Ever since then, every moment we've been together, you've been exactly that. You're one of the kindest people I've ever met. You always put my needs before your own. I've been looking for love three times now, and I have learnt from my mistakes, and I feel like we would have such a perfect life together... but something's missing for me. I can't explain what I'm feeling, but one thing I know now about love is that it's not just about ticking off a checklist, it's about following my heart, and it's leading me to someone else."
Todd, a perfect gentleman to the end, took the news well, telling a tearful and apologetic Ali that he was "so happy" for her, and singing Taite's praises.
As they hugged and cried together, Todd told Ali: "If you do ever need me, I'll always be there. You've chosen a good man, and as much as it looks like I'm sad, I'm happy for you too. I am."
Ali called him "such an angel" as they embraced one last time before Todd said "see you soon" and left her to speak with Taite.
Crouching on the ground crying, viewers across Australia could see the pain Todd was in, and as much as he may be heartbroken now, we suspect he won't be for very long, as he has women lining up to marry him.
And many are calling for him to be the next Bachelor.
Honestly, though? Y'all can GET IN LINE BEHIND US OKAY BYE!
