The Bachelorette 2018: Paddy Says "Ali Missed Out" By Not Giving Him A Chance

He's been one of the most polarising characters in the 'Bachelorette' mansion this year, but Paddy has no regrets.

Describing his time in the mansion as "awesome" and "really, really good", Paddy said that his DMs have been flooded with people telling him that his presence has made the show and that it "would be ruined" if he left.

Unfortunately for the folks in Paddy's DMs, he was eliminated from the competition last night but Paddy told 10 daily over the phone that he wouldn't have done anything differently, despite being "judged by the whole nation" in the beginning.

"I knew all my different sides were gonna come out, it was just a matter of time," he said. "But off camera and on camera I was literally just kind-hearted, sweet, genuine, and the boys got around me. I’m true to myself, I’m very opinionated and confident, and I didn't go into that house pretending to be something I'm not.  I am a loose cannon, but I also have a lot of different sides to me, different qualities."

Before we got to see all those different sides, though, Paddy said that watching himself on TV during the first week made him want to "stick [his] head in a blender".

This is how we get onto the topic of Ivan's avocado mishap, which prompts Paddy to rant for literal minutes. Here's what he had to say, in full:

"Ohhh, don’t even get me started! I’ve never, ever cried so hard in my LIFE! My whole family was texting me like ‘what is this bloke doing?!’ and I -- and then he hits his head when he walks out, the crumpet!

I talk to Ivan everyday, he is just an absolute character, but I would NEVER put a F**KING PIT in a blender! Like WHAT THE HELL was he thinking?! And then it was even funnier, like, Bill and Ali are starting to have the most emotional convo ever, and you’ve got crumpet over there making avocado pit mousse! F*********kin’ hell.

I -- honestly I’ve watched it about 14 times -- I’ve never cried so hard in my life, for him to just stare at the blender, open the lid, and then rearrange the f**king avocados and then put the lid back on again! Mate! Can you imagine the producers filming?!

The producers came back and like, they had tears just drippin’ down their faces when they were telling me, and we were just waiting to see it, we were like, we cannot wait for this episode, because there was no chance in hell that they weren't gonna show it!

I can’t even comprehend what the hell goes through his head sometimes, but I love him. He’s just such a genuine lad."

With that out of the way, we get back on track. Asked about his connection with Ali, Paddy had just as much to say, passionately explaining that Ali didn't make the time to get to know him.

"I thought from having a chat to her at cocktail parties, that it was going well, we got along," he began, before explaining that as the weeks went on and as hometowns grew closer, he had asked Ali why she was keeping him in the mansion.

"She’s like ‘you’re intriguing, I wanna know more, you’re cheeky, you’re funny’ and I’m just like, at the end of the day, Ali, actions speak louder than words, and your actions are kind of speaking and it’s completely different to what you’re saying," he said, adding:

"I wasn’t born yesterday, I’m not stupid, and I just thought it would be very disrespectful to my family to bring them on camera and to bring them into this environment when I didn’t have a connection with Ali. I’m not gonna sit next to my dad at a dinner and to have him say like ‘oh so you’re into this girl’ and to be like ‘to be honest, we haven’t even kissed’, I’m not all about that. I’ve got respect for my family and they don’t deserve to be brought into this kind of environment when I don’t have a connection with this girl."

Telling us that he was "just kind of over it" by the end, he theorised that perhaps they could have made that connection if she'd given him a single date.

"Maybe then things would’ve been different, because my true colours would’ve shown, we would’ve had fun, we would’ve got along, we could’ve actually sat down and you know, spoke in detail, because we did have a lot in common, but unfortunately we didn’t really have that chance to spark something up," he mused.

"To be honest, unlucky Ali, because you didn’t take the time to get to know me, and you missed out on a really, really genuine, kindhearted lad."

Initially, Paddy was hopeful that the pair would make a connection, but told us that unlike some of the other guys in the house, didn't go out of his way to "read up" on her or watch past seasons.

"I’ll be honest, I hadn’t watched one episode prior to going in. I’d just seen a photo of her, like blonde hair, blue eyes, I’d seen that she was into fitness and I thought, ‘yeah, okay, cool, why not?’" he said.

Basically? He thought she was fit.

"Yeah, F-A-F!" he exclaimed. "I thought that she was FIT! Yes I did, I’m not gonna lie, because I think the nation’s heard me say it about 145 million times by now," he laughed. "Yeah, it's kind of taken off, hasn’t it?"
