The Chilling First Glimpse Of The Sabrina Reboot Is Here
Sabrina, Hilda and Zelda are back -- just not as we know them.
Sabrina The Teenage Witch is the latest TV show to receive the reboot treatment -- but if you were expecting zany teenage hijinks and canned laughter, be warned that the new series is serving up something much more sinister.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will star Keirnan Shipka in the titular role --with the first episode centered on the young witch’s “dark baptism” on her 16th birthday.
Shipka shared the first teaser trailer on her Instagram account today which features a haunting rendition of the ‘Happy Birthday’ song along with some dark magic incantations and a haunting glimpse into the new Netflix series.
While the '90s TV series was based on the original Sabrina Spellman character from the 1960s Archie Comics series -- the new character stars the Sabrina from the 2014 Archie Horror imprint.
The show will still feature Aunts Hilda and Zelda (played by Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto) but the pair will be much more into devil worshipping than their groovy '90s counterparts.
But most importantly -- Sabrina's cat Salem will have a starring role in the new series.
Although, Shipka noted in a recent interview with Vulture that she's had some difficulties with the five feline cast members sharing the role of Salem.
“The cat is the one cast member I don’t get along with,” she said, explaining that she's allergic.
Something that was just never a problem for Melissa Joan Hart!
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will be available on Netflix on October 26, just in time for Halloween.
