People Are Going Nuts Over Kendrick Lamar's Acting Debut In Power
Following rave reviews over his Splendour In the Grass performance, fans of Kendrick Lamar had their minds blown all over again when the rapper made his impressive acting debut on the TV series Power.
Featuring on the latest ep titled 'Happy Birthday', the “HUMBLE." hitmaker played a fast-talking homeless addict called Laces, opposite 50 Cent’s character, Kanan.
Ahead of the episode dropping, the muso posted a snap of himself in character over Twitter, writing, “My name, is my name,” he wrote. “Ask me again, I’ll tell you the same #PowerTV.”
Following the release of the episode, fans immediately went bonkers over K. Dot’s acting prowess, with some even comparing him to famed actor Denzel Washington.
Power’s creator and producer Courtney Kemp told the Associated Press the rapper’s relationship with Fiddy played a key role in his cameo appearance on the show.
“He and Kendrick … were hanging out and Kendrick said, ‘I’d really like to be on the show,’ and you know it goes from there. He’s really gifted, tremendously gifted. I mean it’s a total transformation. It is not a version of Kendrick Lamar that you’ve ever seen before. So it’s very exciting.”
Whether or not he'll make the transition from 'rapper' to full-time 'rapper-slash-actor' remains to be seen, but if anyone can pull it off...
