So Is Dennis Returning To Always Sunny Or Nah?

Will we see the return of the five-star man?

Fans of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have been wondering whether Dennis Reynolds -- the golden god and five-star man played by Glenn Howerton -- will return for season 13 of the FXX show since the finale of season 12 last year.

Ending the season on a cliffhanger that saw everyone's favourite sociopathic bartender pack up and leave the gang in favour of family life in North Dakota, the Sunny cast have kept fans guessing for months about the future of the show as we've known it for the past 12 seasons.

Back in April, co-star Kaitlin Olson said that Howerton would be returning at least for a few eps in season 13, but Howerton was quick to shut her down, noting that they were still in the midst of writing the season.

In a new statement released from FXX, it appears that Dennis may not be rejoining the gang, after all, opening with: “The Gang Returns–mostly–in the 13th season of the FXX original comedy series It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia."

It goes on to say that Mac, Charlie, Dee, and Frank will be returning for season 13, "while Dennis takes on the new role of father in North Dakota".

Branded as "Sunny the 13th" in the style of the Friday the 13th franchise, it sounds like season 13 is still set to be pretty lit with the antics and hijinks we've all come to expect from the gang, even if Dennis isn't around to partake.

"The Gang has its hands full as Charlie hopes to have a child with The Waitress, Mac sets out to understand his newfound sexuality, Dee takes feminism to new heights, and Frank goes to great lengths for the Gang to experience the greatest moment in Philadelphia sports history – an Eagles Super Bowl victory,” says the FXX statement.

Golden god or not, we can't wait for the show's return in September.
