Halsey Is Sorry For Accidentally Calling For Another 9/11

Halsey has apologised after fans called out a tweet in which the singer said she hoped music publication Pitchfork's offices would "collapse".

Halsey Announces Show In Melbourne Hours After Falls Festival Lorne Cut Short

Falls Festival headliner Halsey has announced a show in Melbourne just hours after the Lorne leg of the tour was cancelled due to high bushfire danger.

After reading a mildly scathing review of her latest album 'Manic', in which the website described the singer's latest album as "sound[ing] like the amorphous pop that you might associate with a miserable Lyft ride," the 25-year-old attempted to clap back over Twitter -- but it didn't quite go to plan.

"Can the basement that they run p*tchfork out of just collapse already,” the "You Should Be Sad" singer wrote in a now-deleted tweet on Thursday.

The thing is, Pitchfork's head offices happen to be located at One World Trade Center in New York City (also known as One WTC or Freedom Tower), which was built to commemorate the collapse of the World Trade Centers following the devastating terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

NBC reporter Ben Kesslen pointed out the unfortunate coincidence, writing on Twitter, “Losing my mind thinking about the person on Halsey's team who had to tell her she just called for the collapse of one world trade."

8 Of The Wildest Celebrity Scandals Of 2019

Let's be real, 2019 was wild.

Halsey immediately deleted the comment, later clarifying: "Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm," before also deleting that tweet.

She then explained she had no idea prior to writing the comment, saying it was simply a "misunderstanding".

"ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this," she wrote, adding "was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm. Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with!"

"Clearly a misunderstanding," Halsey added.

Meanwhile, fans are divided over the faux pas, with one writing, "Halsey accidentally calling for another 9/11 because she got mad at a technically positive Pitchfork review... just a perfect moment in time".

Others weren't impressed with the negativity being piled on to the singer, with one fan of the star defending her tweet, saying, "Halsey making a funny joke about Pitchfork only to have everyone turn it into a 9/11 reference that forced her to apologize is the most Halsey thing to ever happen.".

All we can really say is.... yikes!
